What to wear
Wednesday · Wedding day
Gentlemen in black tie: dinner suit, bow tie, polished shoes. Ladies, please bring colour: floor-length gowns in saturated shades like lemon, tangerine, poppy red, fuchsia and violet. Silk, satin and taffeta suit a summer evening at the castle. We'd love you to avoid white and ivory. The ceremony and dinner are outdoors, so bring a wrap for when the evening cools.
Tuesday · Welcome dinner
Linen, florals and light summer dresses. The evening is on grass and gravel, so leave the stilettos at home and choose flats, espadrilles or block heels.
Thursday · Recovery party
An easy afternoon by the pool. Swimwear under something breezy, a hat and sunglasses.
Umbria in June
Expect warm, sunny days, often high 20s °C, with cooler evenings in the hills. Pack sunscreen and a light layer for each night.

Castello di Montegiove sits in the hills of south-west Umbria, near the Tuscan border, between Orvieto and Perugia. A hire car is the easiest way to get around.
About 2 hours by car, north on the A1 motorway. Take the Fabro exit, then follow the country roads to Montegabbione.
About 2 hours by car, south on the A1, again leaving at Fabro. A good option if you are spending time in Florence or Chianti beforehand.
About 50 minutes by car. A small airport with limited European connections, so it usually means a change in Europe.
Trains from Rome and Florence stop at Orvieto and Chiusi–Chianciano Terme, with slower regional services to Fabro. From any station you'll need a taxi or hire car for the last 20 to 40 minutes.
Where to stay
June is peak season, so we recommend booking early. Staying within 30 minutes of the castle keeps the evenings easy. Farm stays (agriturismi) and villas work well for groups.
